Learning the Value of Sharing
“This is mine!” is one of the most common statements we hear from young children. At an early age, children often see the world from their own point of view. Therefore, sharing toys, books, and other things with others may not come naturally to them.
However, sharing is an important value that children can learn with proper guidance. When children learn to share from a young age, they also learn kindness, empathy, and care for others. These simple habits can help them grow into responsible and caring adults.
Teaching Children to Care
Parents and teachers play an important role in helping children understand the value of sharing. Children learn a lot by watching the people around them. Therefore, simple actions at home and school can help them understand why sharing matters.
Sharing with siblings and friends teaches children to think about others. It also helps them understand that happiness can grow when it is shared. More importantly, sharing with children and families in need helps develop a sense of compassion and social responsibility.
Thumbappoov Camp
To encourage these good habits among children, Yogakshemasabha Attingal Upasabha conducted a children’s camp called “Thumbappoov.” The camp brought together around 38 children who took part in the activity with great enthusiasm.
As part of the camp, the children collected and donated books and pens to the Pratheeksha donation drive. Their contribution may seem small, but it carries a meaningful message. By giving something they could share with others, the children learned that even a simple act of kindness can make a difference.
A Small Act with a Big Meaning
The donation was not only about books and pens. It was also about teaching children the importance of caring for others. Such activities give children an opportunity to practise kindness instead of only learning about it.
The participation of the children made the donation drive special. Their willingness to contribute showed that young minds can understand the value of helping others when they are given the right encouragement.
Thank You to the Young Contributors
Pratheeksha sincerely thanks all the children who participated in the Thumbappoov camp and supported the donation drive wholeheartedly. Special appreciation goes to Yogakshemasabha Attingal Upasabha for creating an opportunity for children to learn, share, and care.
Every book and pen donated became a small reminder that sharing is caring. When children learn to give at an early age, they can carry these values into their families and communities as they grow.
Thank you once again to all the children and everyone who supported this meaningful initiative.
