“Did you ever know that you were born with the ability to change someone’s life?”
Every person has the ability to make a difference in someone else’s life. Sometimes, that difference can come from a simple decision. Organ donation is one such decision that can give hope to people waiting for a transplant.
Understanding the Importance of Organ Donation
We often hear about different awareness drives and social activities. However, an organ donation drive carries a special message. It encourages people to think about how they can help others, even beyond their lifetime.
There can still be hesitation and uncertainty around organ donation. Many people may not know enough about the process or may not have considered becoming donors. Awareness programmes can help people understand the importance of making an informed decision.
Srishti’s Commitment to Society
Since its inception in 2007, Srishti Innovative has worked to support sections of society that need assistance, particularly in areas such as education and healthcare.
As part of this commitment, Srishti continued its social initiatives through different programmes. Organ donation awareness was one such effort.
Organ Donation Drive at Technopark
As part of the 9th Foundation Day celebrations, Srishti Innovative conducted an organ donation drive at Technopark.
The programme was organised on 29 and 30 August 2016 in association with Pratheeksha Charitable Trust. The initiative also received support from Mrithasanjeevani, the organ donation wing of the Government of Kerala.
The programme was inaugurated by Mr. Krishnadas Pisharam, CEO, and Mrs. Preetha Mohan.
Reaching Out to Companies
Srishti volunteers visited companies in Technopark that expressed interest in participating in the drive. Employees who wanted to register as organ donors were asked to complete the required form.
Those who registered were provided with a Donor Card containing the relevant details. The card served as a way for individuals to express their wish to become organ donors.
The Importance of a Donor Card
A Donor Card allows a person to communicate their decision about organ donation. It is important to keep the card safely in a purse or wallet.
It is also important to inform close family members about the decision to become an organ donor. Discussing this wish with family can help ensure that they are aware of the person’s decision.
The card also included contact details that could be useful in an emergency.
More Companies Join the Drive
The response to the programme was encouraging. More companies showed interest in participating in the organ donation drive.
Because of the growing interest, the volunteers had to extend the drive for additional days. The extended programme required extra time and effort from the volunteers.
Even though it was challenging, the volunteers were happy to be part of a cause that could create awareness and encourage people to consider organ donation.
Spreading a Message of Hope
Social initiatives are not only about completing a programme. They are also about creating awareness and encouraging people to think about the needs of others.
Through the organ donation drive, Srishti aimed to promote kindness, compassion, and social responsibility. The initiative also gave employees and members of the wider community an opportunity to learn more about organ donation.
Every person has the potential to make a difference. A decision made today can become a source of hope for someone in the future.
Be the Reason for Someone’s Life
In difficult times, hope can become a powerful source of strength. Organ donation can be one way of giving that hope to another person.
The response from companies and volunteers made this initiative a meaningful part of Srishti’s Foundation Day celebrations.
Live life, and then give life. Be the reason for someone’s hope.
