“To educate a child is to turn walls into doors.”
Education and the pursuit of knowledge shape individuals and, in turn, contribute to the society and environment in which we live. Children are the future of our communities and our nation, and providing them with the right opportunities can help them grow with confidence and hope.
On April 8, 2018, Pratheeksha organised a get-together for its mentees, their guardians, and school officials at the Rotary Club, Kazhakoottam, Thiruvananthapuram. The programme brought together children, families, educators, volunteers, and supporters to celebrate education and the collective efforts behind the Pratheeksha initiative.
The programme was chaired and inaugurated by Rtn. V. Anil Nath, President of the Rotary Club. The welcome address was delivered by Mr. Vishnu Prasad, representing Pratheeksha. Rtn. Johnson Peter delivered the felicitation speech and shared a brief history of the Rotary Club, along with personal memories and experiences from his childhood.
Rtn. Somanath S. Nair spoke about the objectives and activities of the Rotary Club. Rtn. Pallippuram Jayakumar, a school teacher himself, appreciated the work being carried out by Pratheeksha and extended his support in the overall coordination and management of the event.
Celebrating the Talents of Children
The get-together also provided a platform for the children to showcase their talents through a variety of cultural performances. A group song was presented by Meera, Anagha, Akhila, and Gayathri of BVG, followed by a solo singing performance by Geethy Raj from Panacode. Sruthi of PKSHS added to the celebration with a wonderful dance performance.
The presence and participation of the children made the gathering lively and memorable, creating an atmosphere of joy and togetherness.
Educational Kits for Students
A special highlight of the programme was the participation of J Squad, a group of supporters who came forward to sponsor educational kits for children under the Pratheeksha programme. The members introduced themselves and shared what inspired them to support the educational needs of the children.
Their interaction with the children went beyond sponsorship. The J Squad members joined the little ones in a fun dance, creating a joyful moment that was enjoyed by everyone present.
Following this, educational kits for the upcoming academic year were distributed to the students according to their respective classes. The event concluded with a group photograph, capturing the happy faces and memorable moments shared by everyone.
Pratheeksha extends its sincere thanks to J Squad for sponsoring the educational kits and supporting the children under the programme. Special appreciation also goes to the Rotary Club of Kazhakoottam for providing the venue and supporting the successful organisation of the event.
The get-together was a meaningful celebration of education, community support, and the potential of every child.
