Vayanavaram 2017

Celebrating the Joy of Reading

“The whole world will open to you when you learn to read.”

Reading opens the door to knowledge, imagination, and new ideas. It helps children explore the world beyond their classrooms. Books can introduce young minds to different people, places, cultures, and experiences.

As part of the Reading Week celebrations in 2017, several interesting activities were organised at Sharkara Sree Saradavilasam Girls Higher Secondary School. Pratheeksha was happy to take part in these activities along with Yogakshemasabha Attingal.

The programme focused on encouraging children to develop a love for reading. It also highlighted the importance of books and learning materials in a child’s educational journey.

Supporting Students Through Reading

As part of the programme, around 40 children were selected to receive educational support. Pratheeksha and its partners provided the students with stationery materials that could help them with their studies.

Stationery items may seem simple, but they are essential for everyday learning. Notebooks, pens, pencils, and other study materials help students participate actively in classroom activities.

Therefore, providing these materials was a small but meaningful way to encourage the children. It also showed them that their education and future matter to the community.

Inspiring Children to Read

Representatives from Pratheeksha attended the programme and interacted with the students. Mr. Vishnu Prasad, CSR Executive, represented Pratheeksha along with Mrs. Athulya Manoj and Ms. Vinodini Vikraman.

During the programme, Mr. Vishnu Prasad interacted with the students and spoke about the power of reading. He encouraged the children to make reading a regular part of their lives.

Reading can improve knowledge and language skills. It can also develop creativity and curiosity. More importantly, books can help children imagine new possibilities and develop confidence in learning.

A Meaningful Community Initiative

The collaboration with Yogakshemasabha Attingal made the Reading Week activities more meaningful. By working together, the organisations were able to combine educational support with an important message about reading.

Such programmes can encourage children to look at books as more than just school materials. A good book can become a source of knowledge, inspiration, and imagination.

The interaction with the students also created a positive atmosphere. Their enthusiasm and interest made the programme a memorable experience for everyone involved.

Wishing the Children a Bright Future

At the end of the interaction, Mr. Vishnu Prasad shared his best wishes with the students. He encouraged them to continue learning and reading and wished them a wonderful future ahead.

Vayanavaram 2017 was a simple yet meaningful initiative. It brought together students, volunteers, and community organisations around the shared goal of encouraging education and reading.

Through initiatives like this, Pratheeksha continues to support children and promote the value of education. After all, when a child learns to read, a whole new world of possibilities can open before them.
